Excitement is building as the launch of Apple’s much-anticipated iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max draws near. Rumours abound about the sleek design changes, most notably the thinner bezels surrounding the display compared to their predecessors. However, recent reports suggest that this particular enhancement has posed significant challenges during the manufacturing process.
Numerous leaks from reliable sources have showcased images and videos of alleged front glass panels for the iPhone 15 Pro models, confirming the presence of notably slimmer bezels. The bezels are expected to adopt a slightly curved design, and it is rumoured that the Pro Max model could boast the thinnest bezels ever seen on a smartphone.
While initial reports indicated that only the Pro models would receive the bezel reduction, a trusted leaker known as Ice Universe shared an image suggesting that the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus variants might also receive a minor bezel adjustment.
The manufacturing issue came to light last week when Wayne Ma from The Information reported that Apple’s suppliers were encountering difficulties while assembling the displays with thinner bezels. The problem is more pronounced with the Pro Max model, leading to concerns of potential supply shortages upon the devices’ release in September.
Fortunately, Bloomberg’s Debby Wu and Takashi Mochizuki have since provided some reassurance, stating that the manufacturing hiccup is only minor. They believe the issue should be resolved within a week or two and that it will not significantly impact the overall production of the devices.
Display Supply Chain Consultants CEO, Ross Young, supported this optimistic outlook, affirming that iPhone 15 Pro display shipments are now ramping up as the technical challenges are being overcome. Consequently, it appears that Apple is unlikely to delay the launch of the iPhone 15 Pro models. At most, shipping estimates on the launch day may be slightly affected but not to a substantial degree.
Beyond the thinner bezels, the iPhone 15 Pro models are rumoured to come equipped with a host of other exciting features. These include a USB-C port, a titanium frame, a customizable Action button, a faster A17 Bionic chip, camera improvements, Wi-Fi 6E support, increased RAM, and an upgraded Ultra Wideband chip. However, it is worth noting that these new additions, coupled with inflationary pressures, may lead to price increases for the devices.
As anticipation grows for the upcoming launch, Apple enthusiasts eagerly await official announcements from the tech giant regarding the availability and pricing of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. With the reported manufacturing challenges now being addressed, it seems the wait will soon be over for the latest innovations from Apple.
